Over 250 locals were in attendance at the Singleton Civic Centre, dressed to impress with all the glitz and glamour of Hollywood in line with the evening’s theme for what was a wonderful night recognising local businesses.
With Hollywood gossip guru Richard Reid as guest speaker, local businesses and talents were acknowledged for their hard work, persistence and dedication within the community.
In his speech, Richard said the business awards were an important part of celebrating those who provide vital services to the local area, and those who take pride in their products.
He gave three main tips to the businesses in attendance; work hard, have humility and never stop reaching for the stars because they are most certainly within reach.
The major award of the year, the Most Outstanding Business, went to the newly established optometrist, The Eye Place.
Optometrist Adam Maher and partner Anna Davies were shocked and humbled to receive the award.
In their acceptance speech the pair thanked the community for their support and said they were absolutely honoured to simply be nominated, not to mention winning the major award.
The humble couple didn’t take all the credit though, saying their business wouldn’t be where it is today without their wonderful and dedicated team.
The Eye Place also took the Owner/Operator Business Excellence award and Anna received the Young Business Executive of the year.
Other award winners included Lesleigh Adie of Ourcare for Business Leader, Law to your Door for Start up Superstar, Hedweld Engineering for Excellence in Innovation, the Cancer Council Upper Hunter for Excellence in Social Enterprise, AccountCom for Employers Choice, Gore Electrical and Data for Excellence in Small Business, Mainstream Industries for Excellence in Business, an encouragement award for Tranquil Skin and Beauty and Hannah Spink of Hunter Pet Motel for the Employee of the Year.
President of Singleton Business Chambers, Ruth Rogers also received a special award, winning the Upper Hunter Local Woman of the Year.
