For the fifth year in a row, the hardworking team of tradies gathered up their tools and headed to an organisation within the town to help with maintenance and improvements.
This year the spotlight was on Elizabeth Gates nursing home.
The Glencore team have previously focussed on assisting the younger generation, targeting their past apprentice days at local primary schools. However this year they set their sights on helping the elderly community of Singleton.
Glencore’s Clint Weatherall said the day was a great chance to give back to such a wonderful local organisation.
“In the past we have been to local schools such as King Street Public School and Singleton Public School,” Clint said.
“But this year we decided to help Elizabeth Gates nursing home, and we’ve been assisting in general maintenance, improvements and gardening.”
Elizabeth Gates staff member, Sharon Marzol said that all staff and residents at the home were extremely grateful for the help.
“Elizabeth Gates is a home to many residents and it creates a community for them,” Sharon said.
“The maintenance done by Glencore means so much to everyone here at Elizabeth Gates, because it really does improve the quality of life and the facilities here.”
Even simple maintenance to the aviary shed brought plenty of smiles to the resident’s faces, with many out and about to enjoy the sunshine and mingle with the Glencore team.
Austins Engineering generously provided metal used to create seating for the home and the Lions Club was on the job, providing workers with a delicious barbeque lunch.
It was definitely a great day for both the Glencore team and the staff and residents at Elizabeth Gates.
