Jake Smith swapped his footy boots for golf shoes and smoothed around the course in 39 points. Smith’s win in A grade was at the expense of Club stalwart Mick Williams who also returned a fine 39 only to be beaten on a count back.
Paul Burke once again continued his winning form when he took out B grade with 41 points. Burke’s form has been scintillating this month and there are no signs of it letting up.
Ethan Van Zyl’s first outing in B grade was also a good one.
Van Zyl took the runner’s up prize with a lofty 40 points.
The May Monthly Mug winner Owen Evans finished the month off the way he started it with a crushing win in C grade. His 43 points was the day’s best score and pushed Fred Erdman into second spot despite his grand score of 40 points.
Evans also added a heap of golf balls to his account by taking out the Secret 9 competition.
Left in his wake were Tony Fay, Paul Scott, and Bob Fry.
The final round of the ladies weekend championships was played on the day as well.
Another one of the Club’s fine juniors, Brianna Fogarty took out the tournament with scores of 77, 66.
“Well done Brianna – the win is a testament to all the practice you put into your game,” says club professional, Les Bennett.
This Saturday’s event is the June Monthly Mug sponsored by Hunter Valley Glass and Windscreens. All members and visitors are welcome to join in and compete.
Don’t forget that junior golf tees off every Saturday afternoon from 3:15pm.
