The talented young prop has played a part in the New South Wales Combined Catholic College (NSWCCC) Rugby Union side securing an historic win at the U16’s All Schools Championships on the weekend.
The championships were held at Knox Grammar school in Sydney and this is the first time the NSWCCC team has contested the final.
They also happened to defeat the NSW Combined High School team (NSWCHS) 16 points to 15 which meant Ryan had to go up against two other local lads – Maui Carroll and Jayden Duff.
Fifteen-year-old Ryan began his union career with the Singleton Bulls in the U8’s division and has never looked back.
He has an imposing physical presence and the skills to match.
The formidable forward now plays with the Maitland Blacks and in 2017 the rising star was once again selected to play for the Hunter Wildfires.
And, after impressing selectors has made the NSW Country Junior Rugby Union U15’s Cockatoos Squad.
The squad of 40 is set to be culled to 25 and will be selected after their camp and trails on the weekend of June 29 - July 1.
For such a young player, he already has a long list of representative honours, including:
- Hunter Wildfire in U12's, 13's, 14’s, 15’s;
- Country JRU Cockatoos 2016;
- Junior Gold 2016;
- member of TracTahs Squad 2014-17 – the program was created in 2014 with the aim of discovering and developing athletes with the potential to play in the Tight 5 forwards into the future and once they are inducted we invite them back to attend 3 Camps per year until they turn 17;
- and NSWPSSA Rugby Union in 2014.
Ryan has also had success with athletics/shot putt, representing the Hunter (Newcastle-Maitland Diocese) at State and National levels.
