And after the Knight’s undefeated run in the NSWRL’s U16 competition, Davies has been selected in the Brad Fitler coached Blues U16’s State of Origin squad.
He has commenced training and the final team is set to take on Queensland in a curtain-raiser to the much anticipated final origin match on July 12 at Suncorp Stadium.
The promising young half back describes the league legend, and current channel nine commentator, as a joker.
“He is the best bloke and knows what he is talking about,” Davies says.
Despite his past representative success, he says this latest run has been the “best experience of his life”.
“We went all the way and won the grand-final then I was selected in the NSW origin squad.”
“The training was pretty intense and that’s probably why we went all the way as we train harder than any other team.”
He says being in the Knights system has made him “a better person”. A journey that began with the U15’s Chargers Development Squad resulting in a three-year contract with the NRL club.
Meanwhile, Singleton’s U16 Greater Northern Tiger reps Tytan Lord (wing), Blake Trees (second row/hooker), Josh Johnson (front row) and Aidan Partridge-Smith (wing) also had a huge preseason as they started training in November.
