Coal & Allied (C&A) is currently recruiting for its 2018 apprenticeship programme through partner organisation Programmed Training Services (Programmed).
Recruits will be employed by Programmed and trained in electrical and mechanical trades at C&A’s Mount Thorley Warkworth and Hunter Valley Operations mine sites. C&A has been partnering with Programmed since 2013.
Each apprenticeship is a four-year commitment and on completion participants will be awarded nationally-recognised trade certificates.
Hunter Valley local Alex Duggan started his career as an apprentice in 2013. Today he is employed by C&A as an electrician.
“The programme was invaluable and allowed me to complete qualifications including a Certificate IV Instrumentation and a Certificate IV Industrial Electronics Control.
“It was amazing to secure full-term employment with Coal & Allied following my apprenticeship. The opportunity definitely kick-started my career in the mining industry,” said Alex.
Mount Thorley Warkworth general manager Colin Mackey said “Coal & Allied is committed to providing ongoing employment opportunities for local Hunter Valley residents.

Applications for the 2018 intake of electrical and mechanical apprenticeships are now open and will close on August 14.
