The two day event, held from July 1, provided the perfect opportunity for the nine Singleton swimmers to showcase their skills in the pool.

Competing in multiclass events, 16-year-old Darcy Gilson proved hard to beat. The fierce competitor placed first in the mens breaststroke, second in the freestyle and butterfly, and third in backstroke.

Also competing in multiclass events was 14-year-old Darcy Ryan, who placed second in the mens backstroke, third in the breaststroke and fourth in the butterfly and freestyle finals.

Billy Moody was also among those who performed exceptionally well, placing second in the 11-years 100m butterfly final and third in the 50m butterfly final.

The Club’s state success follows on from recent wins at the Coast and Valley Championships held in June, where Moody claimed two gold, three silvers and a bronze, while Gilson took home a gold, silver and two bronze medals. Alix O’Bryan also claimed a second and third place at the event.

The swimming club has many upcoming events including the 10-12 years State Age Championships which will be held on September 9 and 10.  Swimmers including Billy Moody, Alix O’Bryan, Mackenzie Gray and Jessica Flemming will be representing Singleton at the two day event.  As well as this, the 2017 Summer swimming season will kick off on October 1.

This year marks the 90th anniversary of the Singleton Amateur Swimming Club, a wonderful milestone for everyone who has been involved in the making the sporting club what it is today.
