For the past five years ACC Singleton has offered students personalised, professional education, though only through to Year 10. This has meant that students wishing to continue through to senior years have had to move on to other schools to gain their Higher School Certificate (HSC).
Now, Mr Shields is excited to announce that the local Christian school will indeed be offering educational options from as early as pre-school all the way through to the final year of schooling as soon as next year.
The Year 11 curriculum will be on offer in 2018, while the Year 12 courses will available in 2019.
“I feel that this is where the Australian Christian College Singleton should go and needs to go,” Mr Shields says.
“We are a small school, but our primary school is certainly growing. Our students are known by their teachers and the teachers understand each student’s learning capabilities, so it would be ideal to offer senior years.”
Some even like to think of it as being tutored through the HSC, as does current Year 9 student, Lucy Kelly.
“I think it’s really exciting that the school is opening up those senior year opportunities,” Lucy says.
“Now I’ll be able to continue studying here through to Year 12.”
Lucy travels to ACC Singleton each day from Maitland and wants to eventually study physiotherapy at university. Her senior years will therefore be essential to achieving her goal.
Courses that will available will range from the likes of modern history and legal studies to the compulsory classes like english, math and science.
