Stuart and Kate Garland will offer for unreserved sale an outstanding line up of tractors, machinery, heavy horse vehicles, stallion rollers, single and double show harness and show halters and collars.

The Garlands have exhibited and have enjoyed success at many local,  Royal and Agricultural Shows throughout Australia with their  Yattarna Park Clydesdale Stud entries.

Mr Garland, who first got the heavy horse bug 16 years ago, was the vice president of the NSW Commonwealth Clydesdale Society.

However a heavy workload and a farm accident earlier this year that left Mr Garland unable to move his arm (but he advises its truly on the mend) has prompted their decision to relinquish their heavy horse collection and move to a smaller holding.

An 1890s City of Sydney lorry which has been fully restored will be among a collection of heavy horse gear will be auctioned on August 26.

An 1890s City of Sydney lorry which has been fully restored will be among a collection of heavy horse gear will be auctioned on August 26.

The majority of the items are of show condition or show ready, and these will be supplemented with a range of every day-use items for the horse owner such as rugs, feeders and heavy horse shoes.  The auction of all heavy horse items will commence at 9am.

Highlights of the offering include a circa 1890s red and blue City of Sydney lorry, designed for one horse to cart bulky goods around the city plus a 1915 2.5-tonne wagon with drop sides and a high seat designed for two or four heavy horses as a general purpose lorry for carting heavy loads.

This particular wagon was made in Adelaide and purchased by the Garlands from Warragul in Victoria a few years ago.

Mr Garland said the wagon was very hard to find and had not been used since it was fully restored.

Harnesses on offer include a patent leather single set and pairs of harness made by Mark Porter, Currawarna near Wagga Wagga.

A complete range of modern hay making equipment, tillage implements, fertiliser spreaders, mulchers, slashers, three tractors and items too numerous to mention (including lifting chains and slings, workshop tooling and fencing equipment to name a few) will be sold to allow Stuart and Kate to downsize to a new seven acre parcel of land on the outskirts of Maitland.

All items present in top condition with a full maintenance and service history.
