Hosted by Singleton Youth Venue, young people aged between 11 and 17 can show off their skills at auditions on Friday, August 18 from 3.30pm, with performers selected for the major event on Wednesday, August 30.
Up-and-coming stars will have three minutes to wow the judges at the auditions, with those chosen then given five minutes to take out the competition.
Deputy Mayor, Cr Godfrey Adamthwaite and Cr Sarah Lukeman are among the four judges who have the arduous task of judging the performers.
Anthony Egan, Singleton Council’s Director Corporate and Community, said the idea for the event came from the young people who regularly use the Youth Venue.
“This is an initiative of the young people themselves who have taken on the organisation and management of the event, with the support of staff at the Youth Venue,” he said.
“It’s a fun way to bring young people together and showcase the depth of talent that certainly does exist in Singleton – and who knows whether we might uncover the next big thing in Australian entertainment.”
Everyone is welcome to come along to the big event to cheer on the performers.
“Tickets are available for $5 each or $15 for a family of four,” Mr Egan said.
“All the proceeds will be used to repair or purchase musical equipment for the Youth Venue.”
