After last year’s stifling summer, the PCYC saw business drop as conditions became too hot for gym-goers and club members. So the staff decided to start a campaign to raise funds to have the complex air-conditioned. Currently, the local organisation has very limited air-conditioning available, with one unit broken and unusable.
So Glencore’s donations were warmly welcomed by PCYC Club manager, David Andrews.
“The club approached a number of local businesses and Glencore, among others, were generous enough to help us out,” Mr Andrews said.
The total project cost is $29,154 and the local Club has now raised $18,000.
Fortunately, PCYC corporate has agreed to provide the Singleton Club with a loan to make up the total.
This means the complex will have air-conditioning installed by the time the summer months return.
Glencore representatives say they are always happy to support local organisations that run programs for the community. Glencore’s supports will help the PCYC stay sustainable this summer, and supports the 950 local club members that utilise their facilities.
