Experienced gymnast, Singleton's Sailor Felsch, competes at 2017 NSW Combined High Schools Championships

The competition at the 2017 Combined High Schools Gymnastics Championships was intense, says Sailor Felsch. “We were up against much bigger sports high schools from Sydney,” she says. However, the Hunter team managed to secure third place and Felsch put in a solid all-round individual performance. This involved taking on what she describes as the most difficult apparatus straight up – the balance beam. But getting this routine “out of the way” first was a relief and it gave her the confidence to tackle the remaining events. And although the floor exercise is her favourite discipline which involves combining dance with athleticism, she actually recorded her best result on the uneven bars. “I placed seventh out of 36 competitors,” she confirmed.
