Adorned in florescent orange vests and bucket hats, the pre-school students presented a cheque of $517.50 to the Singleton Neighbourhood Centre (SNC) as a part of their Kindness Project.
The ‘Learning Lions’ were able to raise the funds by selling second-hand books at a book fare last week.
Early Childhood Teacher, Adette Smith said the Kindness Project has been fantastic in deepening the students’ awareness and understanding of compassion, kindness and empathy.
“We are really proud of all the students,” Ms Smith said.
“They have been very eager and excited throughout the project, and they really have a good understanding of the importance of kindness and empathy.”
In presenting the cheque to SNC, the students were treated to an on-site tour led by representative, Tracey Paget. Ms Paget applauded the students for their hard work and charitable efforts, assuring them that the SNC are incredibly appreciative of their support.
“This donation will help us to continue supporting those in need in our local community.”
