Thanks to a generous donation from Singleton Bunnings, the children were able to plant everything from carrots and cucumbers to lettuce and tomatoes.
Bunnings representatives were on site to help create the vegie patch which aims to teach children and their families about the importance of healthy eating.
By including the kids in the paddock to plate process, the kids will gain an understanding of how vegetables are grown as well as highlighting the importance of sustainability.
Singleton Family Support manager, Lindsay Rutherford said once the vegetables are ready to harvest the children will have the chance to cook with their very own produce.
“The children are very excited to be a part of the project,” Lindsay said.
“Singleton Bunnings has generously donated all the equipment and plants, so they’ve made this whole project possible and we’re very grateful for that.”
