The selfless teen has received notification from the Office of the Order of Australia that she is being honoured with a prestigious John Lincoln Youth Community Service Award.
Fiona is one of only 26 students in the state to be recognised in 2017 and the ceremony will take place on November 25 at New South Wales Government House.
Among her notable achievements is Fiona’s mammoth effort to raise over $8000 for the School of St Jude in Tanzania.
She then travelled over there and spent three weeks helping the students and community.
This included preparing and teaching lessons at the school, coaching athletics and delivering the only carnival in Tanzania for the primary school region, trekking to the roof of Mt Kilimanjaro, and living with the Maasai tribe in the region.
Her nomination for this award was encouraged and supported by Hunter Valley Grammar School Head of Barrintgon House, Micheal Knox.
Fiona is a student at the school and she is currently preparing to sit for her final exams.
