Geoffrey and Dulcie Cunningham met at a dance in Blackheath and when Geoff went over to speak to Dulcie, she admits she was charmed.
“I saved rationing coupons to get enough material for a wedding dress and raided my neighbours’ gardens to get flowers,” explains Dulcie. After a day trip honeymoon to Sydney, Geoffrey had to return to work as a coal miner.
“They truly are a lovely couple,” said Cathy Sheedy, Elizabeth Care Service Worker. “They are always holding hands or having a cuddle. They show people what romance is really all about.”
And Geoffrey states that while a married couple shouldn’t gossip to friends about their arguments, it is important to make sure you settle them before you start to resent each other.
“Never let it go on too long, just make your peace,” he says.
