Taj Vesper kept his scintillating form going by adding a 41 point score to his first round score of 40.
Vesper beat home another of our classy juniors, Owen Evans who fired two fine rounds of 39 and 40 points.
Lynwood Country Club visitor Nick Cain claimed first place in A grade shooting 37 points in windy conditions. Club Captain Mark Newman took away the runner’s up prize with a solid 36 point score line.
A count back was needed to separate Ben Isaac and Shaun Thomas at the pointy end of B grade. Both players shot scores of 36 points with Isaac getting the thumbs up from the committee.
Sweet swinging junior Zac Hayes easily shot the day’s best score to win C grade. His score of 42 points had him a one point winner over Taj Vesper.
This Saturday’s tournament is an individual Stableford. After that the lead up to the Championships will begin in earnest.
All entries for the Championships must be directed through the Pro Shop. The cost this year has been set at $110. Good golfing.
Holden Scramble
This year’s Holden Scramble teed off on Sunday and the wild windy weather failed to keep scores in check.
The best of the morning teams was Dave Condran, Brad Canty, Wayne Vanderburg, and Connor Walton with a score of 53.25. They were considered unbeatable in the conditions until the final card from the afternoon players was processed.
The Singleton team of Mick Kirkpatrick, Brad Kelly, Matt Haisty, and Aaron Goadsby fired a 52.625 to take first place.
They will advance to the regional finals at a date yet to be announced.
The Lancaster Holden sponsored event was once again a huge success. Mark Lancaster and his team are thanked for their continuing generous support of the Scramble.
