The service group will also be raising funds for both White Ribbon Australia and Upper Hunter Homeless Support, who are the local body tasked with helping victims find safe accommodation.
They have invited four guest speakers to give their unique insight into this disturbing issue, including a male family violence victim – William Cullen.
Unfortunately, here are many types of domestic and family violence.
It is violent, abusive or intimidating behaviour by a partner, carer or family member to control, dominate or cause fear. It doesn’t have to be physical abuse. It can be emotional, psychological, financial, sexual or other types of abuse.
It can affect anyone in the community, regardless of gender, sexual identity, race, age, culture, ethnicity, religion, disability, economic status or location.
Joining Mr Cullen will be NSW Police Force chief inspector and White Ribbon Day Ambassador Guy Guiano, Senior Constable Kate Hobson - Domestic Violence Unit, local solicitor Joplin Higgins, and representatives from Upper Hunter Homeless Support.
Singleton Sunrise president, Michael Titow, says tickets are $35 each and are available at Singleton Diggers on York St.
This is the first large function the fledgling club has organised and they are appreciative of the sponsorship Diggers has given them.
The club has been in existence for about 19 months now and already made a difference in the Singleton community and beyond.
From putting together 200 care packs for overseas soldiers and collecting bras for project uplift, to visiting local nursing homes on special occasions like Fathers Day and Mothers Day, the group are always looking to find new ways of making a contribution.
