SDCA’s Helene Goadsby says due to rain on Friday, turf wickets were unplayable for cricket on Saturday.
“Second grade was transferred to synthetic wickets in Singleton. There was no play for 1st or 3rd grade players,” she explains.
At Albion Oval JPC upset Creeks, who were all out for just 53.
Creeks went into bat first but suffered a top order collapse courtesy of JPC’s opening bowlers, Brad Driscoll (3/18) and Gregg Dann (4/9).
Matt Chick offered some resistance scoring 20 and Dylan Glover 16 no.
In response JPC lost four wickets chasing the total with both Lachlan Charnock (2/7) and Josh Whittington (2/11) taking two a piece.
Jack Turner scored the bulk of JPC’s runs, notching up 25 and Josh Harvey was solid securing the win with 11no.
Over at Civic, Denman 97 defeated Muswellbrook 69 and it was Karl Bowd who was instrumental in the orchestrating the win. He scored 73 runs and took two wickets (2/4).
While at Cook 5 Valley 4/131 defeated PCH/Glendon 127.
Best with bat for Valley was Brennan Whittingham 49, Francois Hayes 30 and Sam Barry 22.
Meanwhile, this Sunday the Singleton District Cricket Association’s representative teams will be in action when the John Bull Shield team meets Newcastle C&S at Howe Park and Second Division will play Maitland at Cook Park 3.
