Students from Years 9 and 10 showcased their cleverly designed projects, created as a part of the school’s iSTEM elective, in a school exhibition.
The iSTEM program was introduced to encourage students to get involved in STEM subjects, meaning science, technology, engineering and mathematics. And, if St Catherine’s students are anything to go by, it seems the program is working.
From robots that replicated ‘mars rovers’ to water level management systems, the high school students introduced their projects to the primary students, all eager to catch a glimpse of their clever concepts.
iSTEM teacher, Aaron Campbell said the response to the elective has been incredibly positive, and the Stemfest exhibition was no exception.
“The response to both the iSTEM elective and today’s Stemfest have been really good,” Mr Campbell said.
“The primary kids have been really enthusiastic towards the day, and there have been a lot of questions asked.”
The senior students will present their major works at a forum later this evening.
