Dedicated volunteers from the Singleton Men’s Shed have erected the framework for the laundry, disabled bathroom and toilet facilities, and the kitchen area.
These vital amenities are an extension at the back of the original shed and will free up the main area so it can be used for running programs, says Ms Mitchell.
“The guys are a great help, they are angels,” she explains.

“Getting to this point has been a real community effort, Glencore has given us lots of assistance including plenty of in-kind donations but we still have long way to go.”
“I have grants in for air-conditioning and lining, as well as for tiling the wet areas.”
She says they are aiming to have it all completed by December 2017.
Richard Conley from the Men’s Shed says they offered to help out after hearing about the project from one of their members.
His fellow volunteers describe Richard as the “project manager”, and his charges are using their expertise to meticulously complete all the structural work so it will be it ready for the electricians to wire up after Christmas.
They have been generously spending around three hours a day, up to three days a week working on job which is a huge saving for the SNC.
Ms Mitchell says the centre has been fundraising to get this project up and running for the past three years and in total have raised $40,000.
“With our own fundraising and the help of the grants, the Singleton Neighbourhood Centre is now one step closer to providing these vital services.”
With the current work said to be completed within the coming months, the Singleton Neighbourhood Centre is aiming to have the services fully opened to public by 2018.
This year received the project received a $20,000 grant from Glencore plus the Rotary Club of Singleton and the Soft Cogs Inc. are also got on board, with all proceeds from the Lake St Clair Charity Bike Ride going towards the Neighbourhood Centre’s project.
