This year the local event celebrated its 31st year, having become one of the most prestigious events on the NSW Off Road Racing Calendar.
Gearing up for action for day one on Saturday July 8, the day featured a running of prologue to set race start times, and Race 1 which included six laps on a medium course.
The day was full of entertainment for spectators which included roll overs, and plenty of sideways action.
The second day of the event on Sunday July 9 did not disappoint, with more action for not only the competitors out on the track but also the sideline spectators who certainly received value for money.
Race 3 for the short course provided some fast and furious entertainment with a very wild first jump and ride into the first corner.
After lunch, the entire field left the arena to tackle the unforgiving mountain, gearing up for Race 4 on the long course, with only 30 per cent of the field finishing the full distance.
The winner of the event was Joshua Howells in Car 15, who was also named ‘2017 Man of the Mountain’ which is awarded to the fastest lap of the long course track.
The Milbrodale Mountain Classic is generously supported by the local community with the Bulga Bush Fire Brigade and Milbrodale Public School assisting and benefiting from the event.
Even with all the action, the weekend still managed to raise money for some very worthy causes such as Witmore Enterprises, CanTeen and Simply Loving Taylor Inc.
The Hunter Valley Off Road Racing Association (HVORRA) said that all in all it was another successful Milbrodale Mountain Classic with many positive comments being relayed.
“We would like to thank everyone involved in track preparation, race vehicle preparation, pit crews, navigators and all who helped in so many ways to make this event the best Off Road Race in NSW,” said the association.
“The HVORRA is proud of the event’s success and the benefits the weekend’s racing brings to the Singleton area, in particular the Bulga and Milbrodale communities”.
Competitors and spectators look forward to the action packed Milbrodale Mountain Classic event returning in 2018.
