A team of Bulga employees and apprentices, and builders from ECH Maintenance provided the schoolyard blitz, installing new table seating and benches provided by Glencore and the school’s P&C, renovating the area with fresh paint and new roofing panels, topping up the sand pit, rebuilding garden beds and laying down a concrete slab for use as a giant chess game.
“With enrolments at 85 this year, the school had really outgrown existing arrangements in the eating area, which contained three tables that we’d installed for them back in 2013,” project co-ordinator, Teegan Hayward said.
“But we thought that putting in some extra tables wasn’t much of a working bee, so we included a number of other projects the school had on its wish list.
“The kids were delighted with the outcome and our big kids, the apprentices, also had a ball when the entire school challenged them to a game of soccer.”
