Anthony Egan, Council’s Director Corporate and Community Services said the loose surface of the section of road closest to the New England Highway was the result of climate impacts at the time of the reseal works completed by contractors at the end of the 2016/2017 Reseal Program.
“Road reseal works are heavily dependent on climate and weather conditions, with best results in hot weather,” he said.
“Council’s annual Reseal Program is scheduled between October and February to ensure ideal conditions for road resurfacing, however temperatures in this period are not always ideal.
“Unfortunately the reseal works of Kelso Street was completed at the end of Reseal Program and the cooler weather has resulted in a faulty seal.
“The surface rectification works have been prioritised for completion at the beginning of the 2017/18 Reseal Program in October.”
