While the final round of the BHP Billiton Hunter Valley Group 21 women’s league tag competition had no bearing on the top four, the 22-point win was just what the third-placed Greyhounds needed as they face the Muswellbrook Ramettes this weekend.
And, despite being under-strength, the Tigers were gallant in defeat and never gave up at any point.
Both coaches would have been pleased with the efforts of their respective charges, especially in the warm conditions.
A double to Maddy Sonter, who converted both tries, gave the Greyhounds a handy 12-0 lead.
Tyler Kersley then crossed over to extend the margin to 16-0.
But, the Tigers fought back – courtesy of Anna Wilson – to trail 16-4 at the break.
A smart try to Grace Lloyd-Hardy allowed Singleton to regain the ascendency at 20-4.
Ebony Ford put the issue beyond doubt when she touched down. Sonter added the extras for a 26-4 scoreline.
