With only standing room left on Friday night during the Bullride and record gate takings on Saturday, the 2017 Glencore Singleton Show is being hailed a resounding success.
But as always the highlight was the much anticipated judging of the annual Showgirl competition.
There were four deserving candidates in the running – Katie Shearer, Abbie Caelli, Chloe Christensen and Megan Worth.
This year, judges Chris and Amanda Kemp along with Sue Jakes had the unenviable task of separating them.
“What a fabulous group of strong, passionate and focused young women Singleton has presented today,” Ms Kemp remarked.
She wasted no time in announcing the runner-up, Chloe Christensen, and the winner, Abbie Caelli.
Gracious and humble in her acceptance speech, the articulate young lady quickly settled into her new role.
Comprehensively acknowledging everyone from her fellow competitors and the Northern Agricultural Association (NAA) to her sponsor, and her loved ones.
“I feel extremely privileged to be the 2017 Showgirl and can’t wait to see and be a part of what is yet to come for our community,” she said.
Abbie will now compete in the Group 3, Hunter River Zone competition which comprises of Bulahdelah, Cessnock, Dungog, Gosford, Gresford, Maitland, Merriwa, Morisset, Muswellbrook, Newcastle, Singleton, Stroud. The winner of Zone goes on to compete at the Sydney Royal.
