The overnight event is in its 12th year in Singleton and this year will aim to raise $60,000 for local programs and services right here in Singleton. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in Australia. 

“Relay For Life is such a vital tool for the Cancer Council to be able to fund the local programs that every day are assisting Singleton residents,”  Cancer Council NSW spokesperson Clint Ekert said.

“Programs like our Patient Transport service, Financial Assistance, Home Help, Information & Support wouldn’t be possible without the funds raised by this exciting event.”  

Singleton Relay For Life will run from 4pm Saturday and will wrap up at 6.30am Sunday with a closing ceremony. Fireworks will form part of the entertainment at 9.30pm on Saturday.

Registrations are still available on line at www.relayforlife.org.au/singleton , or you can register on the day and receive your free shirt.

“This year we are excited to have a Kids Zone available for children to play in and keep them amused throughout the afternoon,” volunteer chairperson of the Relay For Life committee April Young said.

“For only $10 your children can play from 4pm-8pm while parents can wander through the markets or take part in the Relay For Life.”  

All this week the Relay For Life team will be in Singleton Square selling raffle tickets in its major raffle where you could win a brand new Mitsubishi Mirage, among some other great prizes.

Tickets are only $2 each or 3 for $5 and will be drawn on  November 4.

If you miss the team in Singleton Square, tickets will be available at the showgrounds this weekend.

“Relay For Life is such a special event for so many people,” Mr Ekert said.

“It offers a time to celebrate survivorship, remember loved ones that we have lost and fight back against cancer.”
