The horses being presented for sale are a showcase of the knowledge and skills that the College’s students have achieved during their year’s study at Tocal. “Staff and students have put in a lot of work to prepare horses for our annual sale and we have a great offering for the 2017 sale,” Tocal Principal, Darren Bayley said. “There has already been strong interest from prospective buyers and we are expecting good results again this year.”

Of the 18 horses 18 have been bred and trained at Tocal. Tocal College bred all of the 17 ridden horses (4 geldings and 13 mares), and the 1 broodmare in foal. 

Tocal horses are by well performed sires Warrenbri Clancy, Teles Again 02, Bykool Mirror Image, Alone, Wiljohn Tempo and previous resident sire; Spin to Win and outstanding resident stallions; Peelvale Maestro and Boree BelowZero who are making their mark with their progeny passing on their temperament, type and trainability.

“We take great care to ensure the horses we sell are quality animals both in terms of breeding, temperament and ability,” Mr Darren Bayley, Principal said. “This way we know that those who buy a Tocal bred Stock Horse will be more than happy with their purchase. We have had great feedback about the quality of the horses that were sold at our previous sales,” Mr Bayley said.

At last year’s sale ridden horses topped at $12,500 and averaged $8153. The top horse, Tocal Northern Gem, was one of three three-year-old ridden horses purchased by Susan Calvert, Topi Topi. The mare was sired by Peelvale Maestro from Tocal Dr Zelda. Ms Calvert also bought Tocal Never Mirror Me, by Bykool Mirror Image from Tocal Xcel, for $12,300; and Tocal Noelle, by Spin to Win out of Tocal Errette, for $10,000.
