The event was held at the world class Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre from Wednesday, October 18, to Thursday, October 19.
Making it to the state carnival exceeded their expectations after qualifying second at zone, and then replicating this at the regionals.
At the Hunter Schools Sports Association (HSSA) championship in Glendale the boys recorded a personal best time of 58 seconds.
A performance the Year Four students – Hayden Davidson, Jack Gilmore, Charlie Lennard, and Lachlan Muddiman - are proud of.
However, the awesome foursome did not run quite this fast in their heat at Sydney so they missed out on the final.
But they all “learned a lot” from the intense experience.
Third Runner, Charlie Lennard, says for him it is important to run as close to the line as possible on the bend.
Surprisingly, prior to their recent success, he was the only experienced member of the team.
Second runner, Jack Gilmore, says he enjoyed being part of such a big event.
“But I did get really nervous before the race,” he says.
He says between the zone and state championship the team trained hard under the watchful eye of Ms Zydler.
