A representative from the CFMEU Northern Mining& NSW Energy District, Brad Bates, presented the college with a cheque for $2200 at assembly last week.
This was the result of quite a lengthy application process as one of the criteria for receiving funding was that students submit essays.
The subject being: What have unions done for us?
Library assistant, Gina Kellner, says thirty-nine year nine students put pen to paper.
“We ended up being recognised as the school with the most essay entries so they all received a movie ticket courtesy of the CFMEU,” she explains.
Ms Kellner says St Catherine’s would like to thank the CFMEU for their support.
