This means the club is entering an exciting new era after their governing body, Northern NSW Football (NNSWF), accepted their expression of interest to implement a Premier Club Skill Acquisition Program (SAP) starting with U9’s from 2018.
The SAP program will underpin the premier Club’s Youth Structure and develop players who have the technical ability to transition to the National Premier Leagues, or game training phase of the Emerging Jets.
SSFC Secretary, Warren Gillespie, says they were one of three Hunter Valley clubs to be awarded the SAP program.
“The club is excited to be able to help nurture and develop the next generation of football superstars,” he says.
Gillespie says current 1st Grade Coach David Willoughby will be coordinating the program.
“Willougby has extensive youth development experience having been the Hunter Valley Football Association technical director for many years,” he explains.
“And is also a NNSWF National Youth Championship coach.”
The club is extremely happy to have been given the opportunity to run the SAP in Singleton, and planning is already underway for its implementation.
Trials for the Under 9 SAP program will commence on Monday, November 20; Thursday, November 23; and again on Monday, November 27. They will be held at Alroy Oval from 4:45pm – 6:00pm. For further details, or to register your interest, in the trials please contact the club’s junior president Mark Henderson on 0417 445233.
