Coles has committed to supplying the club’s 183 athletes with four boxes of bananas each week.
This healthy alternative should keep the hunger pains at bay and provide a energy boost for those expending their energy on the track,or in the field.
While the donation of both plastic folding trestle tables and flexi-tubs from Bunnings may not sound remarkable, it is going to make a big difference.
Secretary Kiera Lawrence says their old tables have seen better days.
“They were in bad condition and it was difficult for the parents to record times on the unstable surfaces,” she explains.
“But it is probably the tubs we are most excited about as this means the children now have somewhere to put everything they usually leave on the ground and forget about, especially their drink bottles which can be quite expensive.”
She says this should cut down on the amount of lost property and time wasted picking up things.
“One parent can just move the tub from one activity to the next,” Kiera says.
STFC is a non-profit organisation that aims to provide a fun and safe environment for all ages and abilities to compete in athletics each Tuesday evening.
They rely on support like this to provide adequate facilities, equipment, and to keep the costs down.
And, now Council is starting to fence the whole area they would like to start making some improvements to the uneven track.
So Kiera says if there are any other businesses who would like to offer any assistance it would greatly appreciated.
Although she would like acknowledge the support they have already received from Glencore, Entire Concrete, Majestic Cinemas, Sportspower, McDonalds and Versamech.
