Every year our local firefighters take time out to escort Santa around town on the old Bedford fire engine to deliver some Christmas cheer, and of course, packets of lollies.
And, while they enjoy it immensely because the event has become so popular the Singleton fire brigade social club is looking for sponsors from the community to help cover the costs.
Organiser and deputy captain, Joe Adamthwaite, says originally the social club funded the lolly run alone however with the growth of the event we have in recent years invited local businesses and organisations to take part by donating funds with which we can purchase the sweets.
This year’s run will begin on Monday, November 27 and finish on Friday, December 1.
“Any additional funds raised go towards the upkeep of the old Bedford fire truck which is used at many community events through the year,” he explains.
This year’s run will begin on Monday, November 27 and finish on Friday, December 1.
Santa will be travelling around town from 4pm to 8pm in the following areas:
- Monday – Hunterview and Pioneer Road;
- Tuesday – York Street through to Kelso Street and the railway line and York Street to Civic Centre (Between John and George St);
- Wednesday – Queen Street through to Greenwood Avenue;
- Thursday – Maison Dieu, Gowrie and McDougalls Hill and Darlington, Dunolly and Glenridding;
- Friday – Entire heights area between the Highway and the Pinnacle.
Any businesses or organisation wishing to donate can contact Joe on 0412253932 or send a cheque to:
