A hardworking Branxton family is planning their first holiday in decades after discovering they were the region’s mystery winners of Wednesday Lotto’s million-dollar prize.
The family was the only division one winner across Australia in Monday and Wednesday Lotto draw.
In addition to winning division one, the family’s marked System 8 entry also won division three 12 times and division four 15 times – bolstering their total Wednesday Lotto prize to $1,006,124.05.
While their entry was registered to a Players Club Card, NSW Lotteries officials were able to contact them to break the news.
Though the local dad checked the family’s entry after hearing there was a million-dollar win in the region.
“I’m shaking a bit,” he said when the news broke.
“I saw something on Facebook about a win in Branxton but it wasn’t until last night that I saw it.
“I’m just trying to keep myself composed; I’ve got tears of joy!”
The emotional winner explained his family had worked hard all their lives and had rarely had the opportunity to treat themselves.
“It’ll just make life a lot easier,” he said.
The winning entry was purchased at Branxton Newsagency, 43 Maitland Street, Branxton.
Branxton Newsagency owner David Smith said he was thrilled the winner had been found and would soon be united with their prize.
“The win has been the talk of the town,” he declared.
“It’s very nice to have a win in the region – it gives people some good news.
“Congratulations to our customer, we wish them all the very best with their win.”
