She says they went into camp on Monday and after a late start completed a practice round before the opening round on Tuesday. With a handicap of 14, she shot 84 in overcast conditions and “was happy” with her performance. “We did not play again until Thursday because we went to the Australian Open,” she explains. Here the aspiring youngsters met the likes of Jordan Spieth and Jason Day. Vesper says she was to shy to ask them any questions. It was back to business on Thursday and leading into the back nine, she was in the lead. But after a hiccup with the driver in the hot conditions she finished the day tied for second place and claimed runner up on a count back. Vesper really enjoyed playing in a team environment with other young people, and says this has motivated her when it comes to realising her potential. “At the start of this year I had some injuries and was getting a bit bored playing with older people all the time.”  However, Vesper did not have time to celebrate were her new friends as it was off to Goulburn for the Brett Ogle Junior Masters. Her equally talented younger brother, Taj, also played and her Dad, Chad, was a scratch marker. Her latest achievement caps off stellar 12 months for the modest champion as she has reduced her handicap substantially since being a part to the Hunter Academy of Sport. With her new found confidence she has “a mini-goal” – to qualify for the 2017 Jack Newton Bonville Champions Trophy.
