Retiring Ourcare bus driver, Narelle Newling, says her bus was always a social one. So after 22 years behind the wheel it was no surprise to see a procession of clients stream through the door at her farewell morning tea. Affectionately offering their congratulations on a job well done. Some mentioned her impeccable driving record and courteous manner while others expressed how much she will be missed. However, all agreed Narelle will be hard to replace. They were full of praise for the woman who has not only given them independence but also friendship. Narelle says this feeling is reciprocated as getting to know her clients is what kept her behind the wheel for so long. “I love working with the public,” she explains. “It’s the love and kindness they give back to me.” She holds each and everyone one of them dear to her heart and considers them a part of her extended family. “I appreciate everything they have done for me and I would like the give a big thank you to all my clients, volunteers, and staff,” Narelle says. Prior to driving, she volunteered in the office for four years.
