At the CVSA Summer Championships in Woy Woy from November 25-26, Darcy Gilson, Mackenzie Gray, Shanae Howard, Alix O’Bryan, Olivia Davidson and Billy Moody all managed podium finishes. With Moody breaking a record in the Men’s 12 yrs 100m Butterfly, recording a time of 1:06.71. Geale says his swim was impressive in the lead up to the state champs.
“I gave him a time I wanted him to hit and he went faster,” she says. Moody ended up with six medals – one gold, four sliver, and bronze.
Not far behind was Alix O’Byran who bought home five medals, and then Mackenzie Gray with four. With O’Bryan best results being silver in both the Women’s 12yrs 50m and 200m freestyle. While Gray’s were second place in the Women’s 11yrs 50m and 100m free as well as 50m fly.
Geale says it was also pleasing to see Gilson win bronze in the Men’s 16 yrs 100m breast stroke. At this meet the proven s14 champion stepped up to the open class.
“I was also impressed with how the younger members of the squad performed at the meet.” She feels this group has recently “switched on”.
“At training they are showing the discipline needed to hold them in good stead for future competitions,” Geale explains.
