A change both their parents and teachers noticed immediately upon the girls return from Myuna Bay where they took part in the Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN).
Sponsored by the Rotary of Club of Singleton Sunrise, the year nine students – Zoe Kellner, Jacquilyn Dunn, Ally Horsburgh and Chelsea Jupp – embarked on an intensive program of workshops and activities designed to help them realise their full potential.
Chelsea’s mum, Natalie, was so impressed she sent an email to one of the organising teachers, Terry Holstein.
“I just want to thank you for the opportunity you gave to Chelsea sending her to the Rypen Camp. She thoroughly enjoyed herself and has not stopped talking about it since,” it reads.
“She was moved out of her comfort zone meeting and mixing with other students and leaders from near and far and has gained many friendships and skills encouraging her to reach and think beyond what she perceives as her limitations. It has been a very valuable experience her.”
Fellow participant, Zoe Kellner, says taking part in the ladder fall to develop trust was a highlight.
“The theatre sports were also fun,” she says.
But all the girls agree making new friends was the most enjoyable aspect of the experience.
