But on Friday December 8, Robyn said her farewells to what has been one of the biggest chapters in her life.
After three decades of playing and teaching piano at the school, Robyn is heading into retirement.
“There have been a lot of emotions,” Robyn said.
“It’s sad to leave but I’m looking forward to a new year and a new chapter for me.”
Ms Atkinson first began her role at KSPS after her son Dallas, then six-years-old, nominated her to play piano for the school choir.
“Looking back, I can’t thank Dallas enough for signing me up for the job,” Robyn said.
“It’s been nothing but a big, beautiful adventure, and I don’t regret a thing.”
After performing with the choir for a few months, the principal at the time Jim Porteus asked Robyn to continue performing at the school, with the addition of teaching students interested in piano.
Since then, Robyn has performed at countless assemblies, Easter hat parades, book weeks and more, offering numerous hours of voluntary work.
On top of that, she has taught over 500 students how to play the piano – even teaching second generation students.
“It’s been a joy to share my talent and passion for piano with the children,” Robyn said.
“The students and staff at King Street have offered me nothing but support over the years.”
KSPS staff member, Cindy Judge said the school just won’t be the same in 2018, without Robyn’s friendly face at each assembly.
“Robyn is always happy to help out, and always does it with a smile,” Cindy said.
“We are definitely sad to see Robyn go, but we’re equally excited for the next chapter in her life.”
In the New Year, Robyn will move to Gloucester to be closer to her family.
Although it was a hard, and relatively quick, decision to move away, she is looking forward to spending quality time with her family and having a well-deserved rest.
