The fifth round of the annual Summer Cup was played last Saturday and only one round remains in the event that counts the best three of six stipulated Stableford rounds. With the temperature once again soaring into the high 30’s it wasn’t surprising to see a small size field competing. Club Captain Mark Newman put a fine round together to win A grade. Mark’s scratch score of 72 amassed 39 points to give him a narrow win over Mick Williams on 38. B grader Allan Piggott shot B grade’s best round. Al’s 38 points was way too good for the remainder of his grade as he won by 3 points from runner up Dave Stuart. There were less than 3 ladies played on the day so any lady player was forced to compete against the men.

However that was no imposition for Brianna Fogarty as she returned the day’s best score for a win in C grade. Her round of 43 points will surely decimate her handicap!
She would also have bragging rights for a while as she beat her grandfather Col into second place – his runner up score was 37 points.
