The finals are fast approaching and the competition was fierce during Round 11 SDCA competition. With some teams stepping up and others missing the mark but it was Myles Cook who certainly led the charge for Creeks against JPC on Saturday.

He put on a spectacular display with both bat and ball, orchestrating Creek’s crushing win over JPC in first grade. Cook scored 86 runs after taking 5/28. Then, he went on to score 43 runs during the abandoned John Bull Shield final in Maitland on Sunday. SDCA’s Helen Goadsby says their John Bull shield team travelled to Robins Oval but first rain and then, lightning interrupted play.
“A shower of rain after two overs had been played delayed the game for a short period before play resumed with Singleton batting,” she says. “Jacob Carey and Myles Cook top scored with 43 runs each and strong contributions were made by Nic Stokes 33, Lachlan Charnock 25 not out and Daniel Hayes 24 to have Singleton making 237 runs before they were bowled out in the forty fourth over.”
“Maitland began their innings after the lunch break and thanks to Will Fort’s 64 not out had reached 2/113 when play was suspended due to lightning and thunder. Play was eventually abandoned when the lightening continued until it was too late to resume play. This was unfortunate for Singleton as they were well ahead on the run rate but enough overs had not been bowled to constitute a match, it will be replayed next week at Maitland.” Meanwhile, the other local first grade match was a closer affair with Valley bowling attack doing enough to restrict PCH/Glendon in the run chase. Match stats: Valley 10/232 (Isaac Barry 59, Jake Daniels 53, Daniel Storey 44, Daniel Hayes 42, Liam Storey 3/35, Dylan Hayes 3/36) defeated PCH/Glendon 10/209 (Jake Daniels 53, Max Willis 39, Jackson Cox 37, Josh Shade 5/31, Tom Druery 3/51). The date for the T20 finals has also been locked in for Sunday, February 25. The day will kick off at 11am with Creeks taking on PCH/Glendon at Howe Park in seconds while Valley is up against Denman at Cook 5 in thirds. Then at 2pm Creeks (16 points) and PCH/Glendon (12 points) will take to the pitch at Howe Park in the first grade decider.
