New, more comfortable, and stylish chairs are now in use thanks to an investment of $2500 under the Stronger Communities Grant Program.
Federal Member for Hunter, Joel Fitzgibbon, was pleased this week to award the grant to the important and valuable local community facility that houses a multitude of community groups and events.
The Senior Citizens Centre applied for the grant to replace existing low, plastic chairs with no armrests that were unsuitable for senior members of the community.
The new additions have improved mobility of seniors at the centre.
“The good folk at the Seniors Citizens Centre do great work and I’m pleased those who benefit from their efforts will now be able to participate in activities in greater comfort,” Mr Fitzgibbon said.
“Although the chairs seem a simple item, it’s clear the new additions are much appreciated by the many people who use this wonderful community facility.”
