St Catherine’s Catholic College, Singleton, Year 7 student Josephine Green won the high school section of the beef cattle judging competition.
Overjudge Bryce Whale was very impressed with her knowledge, but also the way she compared each heifer in her orals was excellent.
The ribbons were almost bigger than the competitors in the junior judging classes at Newcastle Show. St Catherine’s Catholic College enjoyed a great day gaining 2nd place in the Primary team’s section (Jake Cook, Jacob Merrick and Jacob Green) and 3rd place (Max Sternbeck, Amelia Sternbeck and Cade Stevenson-Byrnes). Ag teacher, Jo Towers said the students skills had been improved by the arrival of four heifers from Pentire Angus stud to prepare for local shows and the heifer class at Wingham Beef Week in May.
