Despite a few setbacks, emerging Jet and member of the Jobe Wheelhouse Football Academy’s 2018 Iber Cup side, Tye Walker, just wants to play football. His stress fracture is healing, the moon boot is gone, and he has been putting in the hard yards with local physiotherapist Blake Byrnes when it comes to rehab. Now all he needs is the community’s continued support in the countdown to his appearance on the international stage. Local publican, Andrew Herd, is hosting a fundraising event on Saturday, March 24, at the Royal Hotel to help the centre-back achieve his dream of playing in Barcelona. Herd has been supporting what has become known as Tye’s Quest from the outset – a donation tin has been sitting on the bar for quite some time now. Tye’s mum, Kylie Walker, says it all starts at 5pm and they will be running raffles and hosting an auction. She has sourced some great prizes from various places, including BCF, Singleton Florist and Penny Moffat Photography.  And, they will also be auctioning off a signed Newcastle Jets Jersey that included the prized signature of departing star, Andrew Nabbout.
