Held during the first week of the April school holidays it gave parents a well earned break from entertaining their children by getting them up early for intense yet fun half day training sessions over three days.
The clinic was open to children between the ages of five and thirteen with several age groups focusing on different skill levels and abilities each day.
SSFC junior president Mark Henderson says the annual clinic was again a success with 71 players taking part and different skills were aquired each day.
“Monday’s skill focus was on passing, stopping and receiving the ball, Tuesday’s focus was on dribbling and protecting the ball and on Wednesday the focus was on 1 V 1 and building towards game situations,” he explains.
“These skills are considered the core skills of the game of football and each coach had their own speciality and added activities from their own experiences to assist the development of each player in their group.”
All of these junior players will start playing on the April 28 at Alroy Oval and for many of the youngsters this will be their debut game.
