Our staff will be on hand in our marquee in the Land, Plants and Environment section, offering advice and support to landholders. Come learn all about the services we can offer you – from pest control and animal welfare advice to caring for natural resources on your property or improving the productivity and profitability of your farm.
We can also help you understand your biosecurity responsibilities when it comes to managing pests and weeds, regardless of whether you live on large acreage or in a suburban street.
Hunter Local Land Services Board Chair Lindy Hyam said the Tocal Field Days are the preeminent agricultural event in our region.
“Agriculture is worth more than $370million to the economy of the Hunter and Manning Great Lakes region,” said Chair Lindy Hyam.
“Hunter Local Land Services recognises the importance of Tocal Field Days on the local rural calendar, it’s where producers and the wider community come together to learn about the latest in agricultural innovation, find support for their business or catch up with advisory services.”
“Hunter Local Land Services is proud to be a major sponsor of the event and our staff will be on hand over the three days to answer questions and assist landholders looking to improve their property and livestock management.”
Our marquee will feature Young Farming Champion Casey Onus who will be showcasing innovation and technology in the agriculture sector with her drone simulator display.
Drones are becoming increasingly popular as a property management tool in agriculture and you can test your pilot skills in our marquee for free! Another highlight of the Hunter Local Land Services marquee this year is the new ‘Stop Weeds at the Gate’ campaign.
This partnership with Hunter Regional Weeds is aiming to stop weed spread in our region. “Weeds can get on to properties on vehicles, people and animals that come through the gate,” said Ms Hyam.
“’Stop weeds at the gate’ is a set of easy to use resources for landholders and contractors to assist them to reduce the spread of weeds from property to property.
“It assists both landholders and contractors to meet their general biosecurity duty to help prevent the spread of weeds and make weed biosecurity part of everyday practice.”
