New stainless steel handrails were fitted to the grandstand, by local builder Link Upward, and they were put to the test with a full house at the rodeo.
Northern Agricultural Association (NAA) president David Williams said with the crowd filling the grandstand to get the best view of the rodeo action is was great to see patrons using the handrails.
Funding for the project came from the State Government’s Stronger Country Communities program and Mr Williams thanked local member Michael Johnsen for his continued support for the NAA and its heritage showground facilities.
The NAA received $125 482 for the work on the handrail and it is the first project through the funding to have been completed in the Upper Hunter.
Other local projects to be funded:
- Singleton State Emergency Service Facility Upgrade – $260 000;
- Rose Point Park All Abilities Playground (Stages 6-11) – $ 879 820.
The Stronger Country Communities Fund targets smaller-sized projects that nevertheless have the capacity to make a big difference to the lives of country people.
NAA has applied for more funds through the second round of that program and is hopeful they will once again be successful.
