Nivek Industries has developed a Tracked Elevating Device, known as TED, which is gaining national and international interest.
TED is the only remote controlled, hydraulic, all-terrain belly plate jack on the market.
The initial concept was born when Kevin Cant, the founder of Nivek Industries, narrowly escaped serious injury in 2008, when the belly plate he was removing from a bulldozer slipped and fell.
Kevin spent three years in the research, concept and design stage, releasing the first TED prototype in 2011.

Over the last couple of years, TED has evolved into being an all-purpose maintenance tool, taking the weight out of a lot more than belly plates and saving fitters from crush injuries right around the country, and even across the world.
“Getting the Excellence in Innovation award is a great way to showcase our product and says to the world that Industry recognises that what we have to offer is unique and innovative,” Nivek Industries Sales and Marketing Manager Rachel Fraser said.
“We really feel our product is the way of the future and envision that in just a few year’s time, every mine in Australia will realise TED's potential and be looking at acquiring a TED of their own."
Nivek Industries believes anyone with a dump truck, excavator or dozer should be using a TED for belly plate removal.
“We currently sell the majority of TEDs to the mining industry, but as awareness is growing, so are our sales into the smaller earthmoving and civil industries,” Rachel said.
“We are setting up a short-term hire unit on a trailer, so that small local contract fitters and smaller businesses that don’t own their own TED can still stay safe by hiring one when needed.”
Nivek Industries will now move through to the regional business awards held in Newcastle on Friday, August 10.
