St Philip’s Christian College in Cessnock will be hosting its annual Open Day on Thursday June 14 in two sessions from 8:45 am to 10am, and later from 3.00pm to 5.00pm.

This year’s Open Day is an opportunity for the College to showcase its new sports centre, which will be completed in early June.
Featuring a state-of-the-art fitness gym, indoor basketball court, teaching spaces and change rooms, the development is a point of pride for the school and its Principal, Darren Cox.
Parents and prospective students will be able to tour the school during the Open Day, see classes in action, meet student leaders and the school leadership team, as well as viewing the first class facilities that the school is renowned for.
St Philip’s College Principal Darren Cox will be available to answer any questions parents or students may have on the day.
Mr Cox said he is looking forward to welcoming those parents and students who may be considering the school for 2019, or even during this year.
“We are extremely proud of our school community and the contemporary facilities that we offer our students.
“Myself and the staff here at St Philip’s look forward to showing prospective parents and students the quality of equipment and facilities we have.
“Our new sports centre is fantastic and supports the focus we have on student health and fitness here at St Philip’s”, said Principal, Darren Cox.
In 2018, the learning timetables for students from years 5 to 10 contain three gym and fitness sessions per week.
These ‘active’ sessions enable students to embrace a positive attitude toward fitness and enjoy the opportunity to burn energy and balance classroom time – proven to be a significant key to better concentration and learning outcomes across all ages.
Singleton bus route planned for Term 3
With a growing number of Singleton families enrolling at the school, St Philip’s is delighted to announce a new bus route commencing in Term 3.
The service will cater for student families in the Singleton area travelling to the school.
“We will be providing a fully seat-belted bus that can accommodate 39 students.
“Parents can contact the Registrar Lindsay O’Reilly on 4007 5000 to find out more, and discuss the process of how to enroll their child for the service.
“We are delighted to be able to assist those families living in the Singleton area with a safe way for their children to get to and from school,” said Principal Darren Cox.
