Submissions for the draft Townhead Park Master Plan closed on Friday June 8 2018, following two community drop-in sessions for people to meet with Council staff to discuss the plans.
Over 60 people also completed online surveys or made written submissions.
Key inclusions in the draft plan were a new exhibition space linked to the Singleton Visitor Information and Enterprise Centre, new playground equipment, an off-leash dog exercise area, improved parking (including coach parking) and landscaping.
Council’s Manger for Infrastructure Delivery, Damian Morris said Council has received valuable input about how people use the space and the opportunities for the future.
Council will now collate the feedback and work with the landscape architect with a view to incorporating some of the ideas and suggestions received from the community to improve the draft plan.
“It was great to have people come and see us who were regular users of the park, and who had a genuine interest in its improvement,” Mr Morris said.
“There was a lot of discussion around the dog park, the playground and the exhibition space. There was also a lot of emphasis on retaining public amenities in the space. “Townhead Park is an important feature for Singleton and the local government area, and Council thanks everyone who made submissions and completed surveys for their valuable contribution.”
Once amended, the draft Townhead Park Master Plan will be presented to Council for adoption by the end of the year. Mr Morris said the plan would set the direction for improvements to Townhead Park to build on the site’s strategic location on the New England Highway, and as home to the Singleton Visitor Information and Enterprise Centre. The Townhead Park Master Plan is a long-term strategic document for the site that will be implemented in stages as funds become available.
